FAQs

What is this “Citadel”?

Citadel is a community for enthusiasts! It’s a chatroom for people who share interests in anime, donghua, manga, manhua, manhwa, Korean dramas, movies, and music from all around the world.

Chat Room? On Discord...? Do I need to sign up anywhere?

We’re primarily a community based on Disqus. This website serves as a platform to represent our community. Each page is integrated with Disqus, where we chat by commenting on threads. While it might feel a bit unconventional compared to modern chat apps, it works for us!

That said, we also have a Discord server. The vibe there is quite different, shaped by its unique members. If you prefer Discord’s interface, feel free to join us there. And no, you don’t need to sign up anywhere else to be part of our Disqus or Discord community.

Why Disqus? Isn’t Discord better for chatting?

You’re absolutely right—Discord is more user-friendly for chatting and community management. However, we chose Disqus for its unique features:
  • Comment Milestones: Each thread can host up to 100k comments (or close to it). Reaching such milestones is a fun challenge and a point of pride for our community.
  • Gamified Experience: Accumulating comments and upvotes on your profile feels like leveling up in a game, making the experience engaging and rewarding.
Disqus adds a layer of excitement that fits the spirit of our community!

Is this a scam site? Are you stealing my information?

No.

This site is hosted on Blogger, a product by Google. Blogger’s robust security ensures no one can misuse cookies or other methods to access your personal information.

As for Disqus, it’s a commenting platform that doesn’t allow detailed access to users’ private data. Both platforms prioritize privacy and make it extremely difficult for anyone to engage in unethical activities.

If you ever feel unsafe or suspect otherwise, you’re encouraged to report your concerns to Google or the Disqus moderation team.

I was tagged here. Where did you find me? My username…?

We probably came across your username while browsing comments on a site with Disqus integration.

As mentioned earlier, we’re a community of people who share interests in anime, manga, webtoons, and similar content. When we explore websites with those themes, we sometimes come across comments or profiles that pass the vibe check—and yours caught our eye! That’s why we thought you’d be a great fit for Citadel and decided to invite you here.

Isn’t inviting or tagging random people… not okay?

We completely understand your concern. Being tagged or invited by someone you don’t know can feel intrusive or raise questions like: “Who are these people? How did they find me? Do we know each other?” It might even feel like a breach of privacy. However, we’d like to share our side of the story too:
  • Discoverability Struggles: Our community isn’t easily visible on search engines or Disqus itself, given the sheer number of other communities out there. We don’t have a platform to advertise, so inviting people one by one is the only way to grow our circle.
  • Selective Invitations: We don’t invite everyone—we carefully choose individuals who seem like they’d genuinely enjoy being part of our community, based on their comments and vibe.
  • Respecting Boundaries: We only send an invitation once. If someone doesn’t respond or isn’t interested, we respect that and don’t tag them again. This ensures we stay within Disqus’s Terms of Service and avoid spamming or abusing the @mention feature.
We truly appreciate your understanding and patience as we try to build a welcoming and engaging space for like-minded enthusiasts!

I’ve been invited more than once. It’s annoying. Leave me alone!

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. While we strive to keep our invitations respectful and one-time-only, mistakes can happen—we’re only human. If you’ve been invited or tagged here multiple times, we deeply regret causing you frustration. To address this, we’re not just apologizing but also offering clear steps to ensure this doesn’t happen again:
  • Inform and Block: Please inform the person who tagged you about the issue. Once they’ve responded, feel free to block their profile to prevent further tags.
  • Contact Support: Reach out to our Support team, and we’ll make sure your username is added to our blacklist. This guarantees you won’t be mentioned again in the future.
Your feedback is invaluable, and we’ll continue working to improve and respect everyone’s boundaries. Thank you for bringing this to our attention!

I love this community! I want to invite people I know. How can I do that?

We’re thrilled that you love this community—it means a lot to us.

If you want to invite your friends, family, or anyone you know, it’s simple. Refer to this page for detailed instructions or directly guide them to our community. We’re always excited to welcome new members who share similar interests.

If you have any questions or need help with the process, feel free to reach out to us.

Disqus Badges… Does Citadel have them? How can I earn them?

Currently, our community doesn’t have badges available. Since Citadel is still relatively new, we don’t yet have the resources to support this feature.

However, if we’re able to implement badges in the future, we’ll be sure to let everyone know. Stay tuned!

Why are there so many Main Chats?

As threads grow larger, they can become difficult to navigate and comment on smoothly. Once a thread reaches around 80-90k comments, it often starts to lag, making chatting less enjoyable for everyone.

To address this, we close chats once they hit 100k comments and start a new thread. This helps keep the conversation flowing without technical issues.

How to Counter Lag During Commenting? The Buttons… What Do They Mean, Mason?

Lag can occur even in threads with 30-40k comments or fewer. This is due to Disqus’s limitations in handling large comment threads, especially when the displayed section becomes too long. To tackle this, we’ve introduced some helpful buttons:
  • MC Button: Refreshes the thread without reloading the entire page, reducing lag and improving performance.
  • BG Button: Lets you change the chat’s background for a more personalized look.
  • CT Button: Allows you to customize the color of usernames in the chat.
  • GW Button: Instantly takes you to the Gateway thread (not the page), enabling quick navigation.
  • These features are designed to enhance your experience and make commenting smoother.
