RISE ABOVE DRAMA: BUILD A STRONGER COMMUNITY
I've been running this chatroom for about seven months now. In this short time, I've seen plenty of outsiders try to stir up conflict or bring us down. This isnāt unique to our communityāit happens everywhere. And I get why they do it. If I were in their position, watching a new chatroom thrive while mine stagnated, I might feel the urge to tear it down too.
But hereās what Iāve learned from running this community: drama is a trap. You canāt always predict who will try to stir trouble, but you can control how you respond.
And the best response? Silence.
Many of you already know this, but itās worth repeating. Silence is the most powerful tool against all forms of drama.
Iāve faced both small and large-scale conflicts, and in the past, I wasnāt mature enough to handle them properly. I lashed out at people who provoked me, not realizing thatās exactly what they wanted. When youāre angry, frustrated, or even cornered, your instincts push you toward retaliation. But thatās the worst thing you can do.
I made that mistake. I got mad. I wanted revenge. And looking back, I see that it was the worst decision I could have made.
The Illusion of Drama-Fueled Communities
Ever noticed how drama-filled communities always seem active? Don't be fooled. Itās just noise. Thereās no real connection, no meaningful discussionsājust endless cycles of conflict. Over time, the troublemakers grow up, move on, and those communities become empty shells.
In contrast, our community thrives on something deeper. We genuinely care for each other, support one another in difficult times, and foster positivity. We may not always be as active, but the moments we share have meaning. Low activity doesnāt mean declineāit means weāre growing in real life. Some of us are already working toward our dreams, becoming functional members of society.
Thatās why Iāve always believed in this principle:
"It is better to have one person working with you than three people working for you." ā Dwight D. Eisenhower
And Iāll admit, even I got caught up in the hunger for activity and overlooked what truly mattersāfriendships, bonds, and mutual respect.
How to Handle Drama: A Simple Guide
Letās say a random person enters our chat and says:
āThis community only thrives because it stole members from my chatroom.ā
What should you do?
The old me wouldāve lashed out. But now? I know better.
The answer is simple: Ignore them.
These people are fishing for a reaction. The moment you take the bait, they win. No need to reply, no need to upvote or downvote. Act like you never even saw the message.
This is how real-world leadersācelebrities, politicians, and major organizationsāhandle baseless accusations. The moment you engage, you validate the lie. But by ignoring it, you strip it of power.
CITADEL: A Community Worth Copying
Believe it or not, CITADEL is a trendsetter among chatrooms. Of course, drama-based communities wonāt admit it, but if you pay attention, youāll notice something interesting:
Many of the features I introduce here end up getting copied elsewhere
Iām constantly brainstorming ways to improve your experience. I donāt have time to spy on other chats or steal their ideas. Yet, others are clearly watching us, replicating what we create. Some of you have pointed this out to me before, and I see it as a huge win.
We might not always get the recognition, but we set the trends.
And thatās the biggest flex of all.
So, this means we are always in the center of attention. There might not be enough people here but the ones who are here, you all, are genuine people.
One wrong move and we become a laughing stock. Honestly, because of me, we have gone through a shameful period. However, I have grown, I have learned. No more of the same mistakes. Avoid drama with complete silence and ignorance. Iām trying my best to let you guys know the secret to a long-lasting community with long-lasting and meaningful friendships being made along the way. Of course, if outsiders try to cause trouble that violates the base rules of the community, they will face moderation actions but for harmless but alluring, tempting traps, we have to ignore and stay quiet.
Letās come together to build something meaningful.
